The primary restraint to lateral displacement

 – 50-60% of lateral restraint from 0° to 30° flexion
 – Medial patellofemoral ligament and medial patellomeniscal ligament!
 – Cutting the medial structures results in 50% decrease in the force required to move patella 10 mm laterally

 – Reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament provides more stability than a medial tibial transfer !
